At OPTI Vet Solutions, our mission is simple: help Veterans take back their health and quality of life without relying on more medications.
We guide Veterans and their families to safe, science-backed, non-pharmaceutical treatments for pain, migraines, trauma, inflammation, and mental health challenges. Through trusted education, advocacy, and step-by-step support navigating VA benefits, we make it easier to access VA-covered, drug-free health technologies that truly work.
Because those who served our country deserve real solutions, real support, and real healing.
Whether a Veteran is newly transitioning from service or has carried invisible wounds for decades, OPTI Vet Solutions exists to help them find answers, access earned benefits, and move forward with confidence.
Every meaningful mission has an origin story. Ours started with something surprisingly simple: a pair of shoes.
Mike Sweeney was once told that the VA could provide quality walking and running shoes for Veterans with back issues. Like many Veterans, he was skeptical. But instead of dismissing the idea, he decided to find out for himself.
After enrolling in VA care and attending his first appointment, Mike had a straightforward conversation with his provider. The result? He was prescribed two pairs of high-quality shoes – Hoka and Brooks – designed to support his back and biomechanics.
That single visit sparked a realization: if the VA could provide this, what else was available that Veterans simply didn’t know about?
That curiosity turned into research. Research turned into conversations. Conversations turned into partnerships. And ultimately, OPTI Vet Solutions was born.
As we explored the VA system more deeply, we uncovered a growing ecosystem of FDA-cleared, non-pharmaceutical health technologies – many already eligible for VA coverage – that address chronic pain, migraines, anxiety, PTSD-related symptoms, TBI, and more.
What was missing wasn’t the technology, it was awareness, education, and advocacy.
Today, OPTI Vet Solutions partners with innovative organizations committed to improving Veteran health. We continuously evaluate emerging devices, study the science, and educate Veterans on what is available, how it works, and how to advocate for these options going forward.
And yes: this entire journey started with two pairs of shoes.
We openly acknowledge a difficult truth: for many Veterans, the relationship with the VA healthcare system can feel frustrating, impersonal, or adversarial.
OPTI Vet Solutions exists to bridge the gap between Veterans and VA Medical Centers, fostering collaboration rather than conflict. We are not here to work against the VA, we are here to support Veterans and providers alike by improving awareness of what is actually available to try.
Our goal is to break outdated stereotypes and empower Veterans to:
At the same time, we work to educate providers on emerging technologies that can meaningfully improve Veteran outcomes.
When Veterans, providers, and systems work together, everyone wins—especially you, our fellow informed Veteran.

Michael Sweeney is a U.S. Navy Veteran, Naval Academy graduate, and servant leader whose career blends military service with mission-driven entrepreneurship. After serving as a Naval Officer and earning his MBA, Michael dedicated himself to building organizations rooted in purpose and impact.
His experience navigating the VA system, and discovering firsthand what is possible when Veterans are informed, led him to co-found OPTI Vet Solutions. Michael’s mission is deeply personal: to ensure Veterans understand what benefits are available and how to access tools that genuinely improve quality of life.

Shannon Boyle is a mental health expert, Veteran benefits advocate, and one of the most visible voices educating Veterans about non-pharmaceutical care options available through the VA.
For many Veterans, Shannon is how they first discovered OPTI Vet Solutions. Through her strong and trusted presence across social media platforms, she has helped thousands of Veterans understand that alternatives exist, often long before they ever speak with a provider or ordering department.
Shannon specializes in translating complex mental health and VA benefit information into clear, approachable guidance. Her work focuses on PTSD related symptoms, anxiety, sleep disruption, migraines, and neurological health, helping Veterans recognize that struggling is not a failure and that asking for better care is an act of strength.
Her ability to educate, connect, and advocate has made her a cornerstone of OPTI Vet Solutions’ outreach and one of the primary reasons Veterans feel comfortable taking the first step toward support.

At OPTI Vet Solutions, support begins with education and device awareness. We have a dedicated Veteran Call Team who calls every Veteran we work with – because no one should feel alone navigating their care.
Our team proactively connects with Veterans to:
This team exists for one reason: Veterans deserve a human connection. Sometimes that extra conversation, follow-up call, or explanation makes the difference between frustration and progress. We believe this personal touch is not optional, it’s essential.
“Most Veterans don’t realize what’s actually available to them. Once they understand their options, everything changes. My goal is to help Veterans feel confident asking for the care and tools they deserve.”
— Shannon Boyle, Co‑Founder & Mental Health Advocate
OPTI Vet Solutions serves Veterans nationwide, supporting those who receive care through VA Medical Centers, VA Community Care, and affiliated VA clinics across the United States. Our work focuses on increasing awareness and access to VA-eligible, FDA-cleared, non-pharmaceutical medical devices for Veterans dealing with chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety, migraines, traumatic brain injury (TBI), sleep disorders, and neurological conditions.
We specialize in Veteran education around non-drug therapy options, including photobiomodulation (red light therapy), neuromodulation devices, therapeutic virtual reality (VR), and other emerging technologies that may be ordered through the VA when clinically appropriate.
Your zip code should not determine the level and quality of care you receive from the VA
OPTI Vet Solutions supports Veterans across all 50 states, including those served by local VA hospitals, Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), and Community Care networks.
No matter which VA facility you use, our goal is the same: help you understand what’s available, how to request it, and how to partner with your provider and ordering department to move your care forward. That consistency matters, because Veterans shouldn’t have to wonder whether the rules or access change from one location to another. As VA Secretary Douglas A. Collins has emphasized, the goal is to “ensure consistent application of VA policies across all medical facilities.”
By helping Veterans understand the VA healthcare process, medical device request pathways, and available benefits, OPTI Vet Solutions acts as a trusted Veteran health education and advocacy resource for both patients and providers.
At OPTI Vet Solutions, we believe Veterans should never have to stumble upon life-changing benefits by accident.
Our commitment is to inform, educate and advocate so every Veteran has the opportunity to access the best tools science has to offer and the care they earned through service.
We are proud to support Veterans with information, education, and encouragement, but it’s also important to be transparent about what OPTI Vet Solutions does not do.
What we can do is help you understand your options, educate you on devices and the VA process, and support you in advocating for yourself, so your conversations with your VA team are clearer, more confident, and more productive.
We do NOT:
Yes. We educate Veterans on VA-eligible, non-pharmaceutical medical devices and how they may support conditions like chronic pain, migraines, PTSD-related symptoms, anxiety, sleep disruption, and TBI.
Yes. We support Veterans nationwide, including those using VA Medical Centers, CBOCs, and VA Community Care networks.
Our team helps you understand the technology, the VA process, and what to discuss with your provider. When VA providers request supporting information, we can help gather and share relevant resources.

Disclaimer At OPTI Vet Solutions, we’re Veterans helping other Veterans discover tools that can make a real difference. We’re not part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or any government agency – just sharing what’s worked for us and others in our community. Sometimes we earn a small commission when we help connect Veterans with products or technologies we believe in. That support helps us continue spreading awareness and education, but it never changes our message or mission. Everything shared here is for educational purposes only. Before starting any new therapy, device, or program, always talk with your healthcare provider. The final decision about using any health tool is between you and your care team.
